The story of Saimaa SUP Club
Saimaa SUP Club was founded in 2019 by a small group of friends who discovered stand up paddleboarding on the lakes around Savonlinna and quickly became obsessed. What began as informal weekend sessions grew into a community of over 140 paddlers.
The Saimaa lake system is one of the most beautiful places in the world to paddle — the water is calm, the scenery is spectacular, and the ringed seals occasionally paddle alongside you.
We run regular group paddles, beginner workshops, multi-day touring trips, and the occasional race. All skill levels are welcome — from people who have never stood on a board to experienced touring paddlers.
Membership is €40 per year and covers all club events throughout the May–September season.
